Join us on Friday January 27, 2012 and meet South Florida photographer John Gillan at the Montecristo Lounge from 8:00pm-10:30pm. 

John will talk about his ethereal and whimsical collection "Pinhole II" which are mages taken with a lensless camera, simply a box with a hole in it using 4" x 5" sheet film. Images were taken throughout Florida, New York, Paris and Amsterdam. 

This is the eighth exhibit and the last in the Art and Cigars Series that began when the Montecristo Lounge opened in February 2011.

The images in this collection are available as limited edition fine art and also as open editions. Many of the pieces are in private and commercial installations in hotels, cruise ships, hospitals and corporate offices.

The event is FREE and open to the public.

Free Parking all over Downtown Hollywood and also Parking is available on the street and nearby in the parking garage.

The Montecristo Lounge is across the street from the Ramada Inn near the intersection of 20th and Harrison Street.

Cuenca's Montecristo Lounge was chosen "2011 Best Art Gallery/Art and Culture at the Best of Hollywood Contest" . Hollywood Gazette November 2011, Page 24, states:

(...) The Montecristo Lounge is a private art exhibition gallery adjacent to the popular downtown cigar shop Cuenca Cigars, a Hollywood Hot Spot for over four years. Artist John Gillan can often be found at the Montecristo Lounge on Friday nights. Gillan approched owner Ana Cuenca about displaying his Art and She loved the idea. 

Last Month collection was Polaroid SX-70, which is a documentation of South Florida where each photograph was manipulated after being exposed. The Exhibit Rando Blends have been on display since October 28th, 2011. It consist of a unique selection of paired images. Prints are available for purchase.

The Members Lounge bustles with enthusiasts of Art and Cigars. Cuenca's lights up the room with her constant smile as she eagerly welcomes guests into the Montecristo family, inviting them not only to upcoming promotional events but even to a birthday party at the Lounge. -M.C. (...)

This collection of work is one of the most sensitive and revealing records ever assembled of the richly historic architecture and landscapes of Dade County. " This is historic Miami at its best. " Charleton Tebeau.

This exhibit premiered at The Historical Museum of Southern Florida in April 1994, and was on view for six months. The collection took five years to photograph, edit, print, and research. A book of the same title was published by Florida International University School of Design. South Florida photographer, John Gillan, received several awards for the book and exhibit including " Architectural Photographer of the Year" from the American Institute of Architects.

Photographs - 4" x 5" and 8" x 10" original platinum prints all printed by the photographer.
Text, anecdotes and quotes collected from Miami's pioneers, historians and natives.

This collection can be rented in whole or in part to suit your space requirements. Prints are available for purchase at the event.

 The exhibit will be on display until April 22, 2011 and can be viewed by appointment after the March 25th opening. You can usually catch John there on Friday evenings, let us if you will be stopping by.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: The Montecristo Lounge of Hollywood Grand Opening. HOLLYWOOD, Florida- The Montecristo Lounge of Hollywood held the official ribbon cutting ceremony and grand opening with Mayor Peter Bobber and the executives from Altadis USA on Friday February 25, 2011. The event was sponsored by Altadis USA and Cuenca Cigars. “Altadis USA brands include: Montecristo, Romeo Y Julieta, H. Upmann, Warlock, Siglo, A. Turrent Triple Play, Trinidad Habana Reserve and many others”. The festive atmosphere included sophisticated cigar girls from Truu Salon Aveda handing out free Montecristo cigars. In charge of the food for the most sophisticated palate were Big Easy of Hollywood and Lucas Giulio.

At the end of the night an extensive raffle took place. 200 Cigars Humidor, Montecristo Knife set, Montecristo Watch amount others were raffle. The evening was plenty of the genuine Cuenca’s hospitality. The Montecristo Lounge is a member’s only club that has been able to attract business partners like, Timeless-Destinations, Connection for Business, Mr. Jorge L. Rodriguez MBA from Allstate and Prolexic Technologies who are professionals and offer a nice distinction to our business and the city. "The more we attract successful companies and entrepreneurs to our city, the more revenue we will generate for all those surrounding businesses." commented Ana Cuenca. All Montecristo Lounge members received special Montecristo 75th Anniversary gift packages a Montecristo Hat and all invites received free Montecristo Cigars from Altadis USA.
